Thank you. These minor inclusions will dramatically increase the usability. I can’t wait.

Excuse my ignorance, but what are the differences between the Biblereader free and $0.99 versions?? I couldn’t really figure this out by reading the descriptions in iTunes.
The $.99 version comes with two additional commentaries, “Matthew Henry” and “Jamieson, Fausset, and Brown.” Both apps come with the ASV and KJV translations. Also, the $.99 one is the only one with BibleReader 5 at the moment.

> “we are including the following updates as options”
I’ve found the verse choose option, but where is the “more text on screen” option hiding? I cannot find it!
The one-page verse chooser and the full-screen reading is coming in the next update so you can’t see it yet.
Will the iPad version also have the one page verse chooser? This is my favorite ‘must have’ feature. Everything else looks great,
about 1 year ago
Yes, it’s in the works.

What gives?? I opened the app today to find the entire interface has drastically changed…. for the worse! (in my opinion).
How do I go back to the previous version? I do not like the new verse chooser… very cumbersome compared to the old one. Please tell me there is a way to get back….. Thanks!

Are you asking about the grid view vs. list view? Watch this 20 second video to see how. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0ypOswIXko
about 1 year ago
Yes, that was what I was looking for….but also the main interface changed. I think I’ll get used to that, but pretty drastic! I’ll have to use it some more… Thanks.

Chad, this link has quite a few tutorials and “how-to” information on the new update. http://olivetree.com/smartphone/BibleReader50.php. You will soon have a choice to view full screen too if you don’t care for the “book” style.

Can I download the $.99 version 5.0 to learn the new features, while still keeping my old version for use until my old version is updated? Can I load my existing Olive Tree library into the 5.0 version? I haven’t made many notes, highlights, etc, to worry about.
Yes! You can do that. Once you’ve downloaded it just synchronize both of your libraries to OliveTree.com. The notes and highlights won’t transfer unless you have used Evernote in the past and even then only the notes transfer. With the new Olive Tree sync page everything can be backed up.

Are you saying that if I have highlights in my BR4 Free version, once BR5 Free is available, I still won’t be able to get my highlights from BR5 Free to BR5 Paid? I have been waiting months for a way to do this. Hopefully, there’s a way. Thanks for the work to keep improving. (And thanks for adding back in the full screen reading and full screen verse chooser!)

When the BR5 update comes to BR4 all of your user created data will transfer just fine. If you are trying to transfer user created data from your BR4 free to BR5 paid then you can only transfer notes using Evernote. BR5 free and BR5 paid will be able to transfer notes, highlights, and bookmarks using the sync feature in “My Stuff.” However, I suggest only using one BibleReader app to avoid unnecessary work to keep the two apps reflecting each other. You only need one BibleReader app to use all your resources.

My question is similar to #12. I paid the 99 cents for 5.0. Then I had to go through the cumbersome step of downloading all my books again, only to find that nothing I’d highlighted or made notes on had synced! Should I wait and do the update from within the previous version in order to sync all my work? I haven’t used Evernote. Please explain what you mean by “synchronize both of your libraries to OliveTree.com.” I’m afraid I’m going to lose everything!
The reason you aren’t finding your notes and highlights in the new app is because it is just that…a separate app. When your BibleReader 4 is updated to BR5, you will still see all of your notes, highlights, etc transfer seamlessly. In the mean time, if you want to see your notes made in BR4 with your BR5 app you will need to create an account with Evernote, back up your notes on BR4, and then import them into BR5 using the external sync function with Evernote. It will most likely be easiest to wait on the update to your BR4 and you won’t need to do anything.
Now, you asked about syncing. Good question, and I apologize for any confusion I may have created before. BibleReader 5 uses the word “synchronize” and “sync.” “Synchronize your library” is found in your library under “purchased” down at the bottom. This means any purchase made on iTunes will be reflected on your Olive Tree account so, for instance, if you lost your phone or accidentally deleted anything from your library you will always be able to re-download it from Olive Tree at no charge. Or, let’s say you change phones and go with an Android in the future. Your purchases are still safe and can be downloaded to your new phone. This feature is also useful when you have more than one device like an iPad and a phone. Using the same account for the devices means you can have all the same resources across your platforms.
Now, for “sync.” Under the “My Stuff” icon you will see “sync” at the bottom of the window. This means any user created data can be backed up in BibleReader 5 like your notes, highlights, and bookmarks. It is also reflected in your OliveTree account and uses the same username and password.
“Synchronize” = Library Resources
“Sync” = Annotation back up (notes, highlights, bookmarks)
Does that help?

hey, just want to say i love BR5, but no multiverse copying really lets it down. that function from BR4 was awesome when taking notes, putting together sermons, tweets, u name it. i hope we can get that function in an update.. Please, God Bless

For a work around on the highlighting issue, you can edit your highlights in sync.olivetree.com. You can edit the start/end of your reference online and when you’ve synced your device the highlights will change on your phone.

wasnt the highlighting, it is the multi verse copy and pasting, i know u can higlight up to a page but it doesnt take the book and chapter referenses… the multi verse copying was one of your greatest features of biblereader.. youversion, none other do it, and now its not on there.. love to c it there in an update,… i purchased the new B5, but sadly i am mostly using my B4, hopefully u will take the gr8 things from B4 and put them in B5

Am i doing something wrong I can not seem to get search to filter. In other words it searches on the whole bible even when you select one book?
No, you’re not doing anything wrong. We just discovered a bug that crept in on the last version. You should see an update soon correcting that issue.

What is the ETA for BR5 for people that bought other editions (such as NIV+ or NIV Family)?
It’s also a little odd to me that they aren’t updated simultaneously (or that you have so many duplicate apps available that are only differentiated by the bundled content; wouldn’t having a single app with the content as in-app purchases increase the sales rank of BR and thus make it more visible/prominent in the App Store listings).

Hi Caleb,
We find that when people search for Bibles they generally search for their favorite translation, so only having one app makes it difficult to immediately find the specific translation. Yes, there are over 600 titles you can purchase in-app and more on our website. Each app is a separate submission to Apple so they all can’t be updated at the same time. Plus, we generally update the 99 cent app and free reader first, making sure all the bugs are worked out before submitting them to our higher paid apps. As to our listing rank on iTunes, if you type in Bible you’ll find that Olive Tree has 11 of the top 15 iPhone Bible apps. You’ll find a similar ranking on the iPad app. Thanks for the great comments!

I love your app, but I REALLY need the multi-verse copy feature back. I copy and paste verses directly into Keynote and now I have to do them one at a time? I went back to my Mac to do it rather than putting up with copying one verse at a time. I hope that functionality comes back with a future update. Other than this, I love the app and have enjoyed watching it evolve through versions!

Have you tried the text selection tool and copied that way? You can copy up to a full screen if needed.

Will progress on a reading plan sync from BR 5 free to BR 5 paid?
Hi Andy. At this time we do not have any syncing between daily reading plans.

Hi – Like the look of the new BR5 on the iPad but I’ll be honest, it is quite laggy. Not as fast as the old version. Obviously this is probably a hardware limitation, but is there an option to go back to BR4 on the ipad?
Hi Matt,
No, there isn’t a way to go back to BR4. You don’t happen to have several other applications open at once on your iPad do you? I haven’t noticed a difference in speed, but if I have multiple apps open at once I do notice other applications getting slower.
Thanks David. I was able to improve the responsiveness of turning the pages by turning off the book graphic view in the color settings. The pages flow smooth like the BR4 and don’t have a slight stutter like it did with that setting on.
I’ve also played around a lot more today and the gesture settings are sweet! I like how I could program double tap to jump to the verse chooser, and I like the ability to swipe to see the next search result.
Nice job! With that little setting tweak I am really enjoying it. All of this will be a moot point when the new iPad 2′s come out and are more powerful!

First, Thanks for making this software available for free, it is great! I recently downloaded the update and I sorely, sorely miss the old interface’s visual aspect. Is there a way to remove the update, or to download the older version? Or are there backgrounds that can be downloaded to have the old look-and-feel of the application? I can’t express how much I miss it.
Thanks!

Hi,
There isn’t a way to go back to the old interface, but you can certainly customize colors and lose the “book” feel in the advanced settings. You can also maximize your text on the screen which is basically the same as the old interface.

Please re-instate the ability to copy multiple verses. It was my most used function in BR4 when taking sermon notes.

Hi Cecil,
Due to license agreements and copyrights we had to remove that feature from our BibleReader. The new selecting visible text on the screen is the closest feature we can offer.

I really need the multi-verse copying capability. It was there. Now it’s not. Why?
That was such a handy feature of the previous edition.

Hi,
I’ve spent hundreds, maybe even thousands of hours with the notes, highlights and bookmarking in BR4. There must be a way to get them all in BR5. Please help me?
Yes! If they didn’t automatically update when your BR4 was updated to BR5 (BR5 came as an update right and not a separate purchase?) please contact support@olivetree.com.
