I prefer the old one tbh. But it's not because of the leather or anything. I would prefer the splash screen to be a cover rather than an open page - but it's all just personal preference. I think the whole 'it looks old' is a nonsense. Really. At the end of the day there are plenty of graphic styles that could have been chosen and all of them have their pro's and cons with regard to how people might perceive them. I don't particularly think that the new splash screen looks 'new'. In fact, I would go so far as to say it looks unfinished. But, this is just my oppinion and as Jack above has pointed out quite correctly, it doesn't matter. The App itself is fantastic. The End.

REALLY does it matter what the splash screen looks like. It's the inside content I love. The Olive Tree staff have provided us free of charge an unbelievable resource to study the Word of God. I use it daily, at church and my Adult SS class I teach. I even connect my iphone to a big screen tv to project the scriptures we're studying. Thank you Olive Tree. Whatever you pick for the screen, I know I'll love it.

I agree with you, sad that technology has taken away many of our old ways. Many in my old age like some of the old ways. Maybe in 20 years it can go strictly into new ways. When the older generation is gone.
But like you I have had to accept the new ways also.

I just hope that as the new invades that the Bible itself never moves into some of the new thoughts of this world.

Keep up the good work! It's a great program. The best!

Hi John,
I wish we could allow you to pick your own splash screen, but this isn’t an available option in the AppStore currently.

I'm with John,
Llet me pick the splash screen. I personally try to "darken" all of the various readers and apps I have. It bugs me to see glowing screens in a darkened room. I have set my fonts in the Olive Tree Bible Study App to white text on black screen. I wish I could change the colors of the search and navigation too. Now, with the new proposed splash screen, I'll need to cover my tablet while the app starts to prevent a bright white flash from my device.

I too like the green leather screen. It doesn't look dated to me. It looks like a Bible ought to look. Is it possible to let the user set the screen he or she likes from ones that you offer? I for one would prefer the present screen. Hopefully there will be a way to set this in the preferences. It would make a great Bible resource more enjoyable.

Genny, I truly understand where you are coming from. I too really enjoy the leather look when I open Bible Reader. As I enjoy reading my leatherbound Bible that my wife gave me as my wedding present on our wedding night.

I think you ultimately came to the same agreement but it is really about what is going to be best for BR as you work to reach more people and get them engaged in God's word!

I think that too many times we either look towards the past with disdain or towards the future with dread. What we really need to be doing is looking at everything to see how it can be used to glorify God and expand His kingdom. I may not like a certain way that something is done but if it is expanding His kingdom, I need to push my feelings aside and just allow His Spirit to take over.

A grateful user of Bible Reader
