Fully Customize The Bible Study App
If you’re like me, when I get a new app or piece of technology I don’t always read the manuals or follow the tutorials. I typically figure out how to use the main features and stop there. Because of this I sometimes miss out on some of the lesser known things that are actually pretty cool. The Bible Study App has a lot of different features, some that are different depending on the device capability, but many that are similar.
Maybe you’ve seen the setting icon before:

If you click or tap on this icon you’ll get to a simple screen that allows you to adjust the font used in The Bible Study App. But what if you go a bit deeper? Again, depending on your device, the options may vary but if you click on More Options/Advanced Settings this is where it gets fun. You can customize color and display settings and on mobile devices even customize gestures and scroll settings. There are all sorts of other options as well. If you haven’t yet checked out some of these settings don’t be afraid to experiment. You’ll find that there may be some things you wish you could do…that you actually can.
If there are things you’ve customized that have been useful please share them in the comments. If there are features you’d love to see in an upcoming release let us know. We love to hear from people who are using The Bible Study App and our development teams are always working on adding great new features.

We are currently spending most of our time working on getting updates done for iOS at the moment. Once we are finished with our projects there, we are planning on getting back to work on the Mac desktop version and getting it up to par with the other versions of the Bible Study App. Unfortunately we don’t have a definite timeframe at this juncture, but I assure you we are dedicated to the OSX version of the app and we will have an update available at some point in the future.
Thanks for your patience & sorry for the inconvenience.

I’m looking foreward to be able to higlight more than just one verse. I think this feature is already on your list (http://blog.olivetree.com/2013/01/10/sneak-peak/)

I’m waiting anxiously for night reading mode. Very, very needed. One of the few glaring omissions in the app.
As far customization, on the iPad, I set 3 finger swipes up/down to “Cycle Split Window Tool (Book, Notes, Resource Guide)” and “Cycle Split Window Tool (Book, Resource Guide, Notes)” respectively. That way swiping up or down cycles me thru the split window tools. -

Even though I absolutely love your Bible Reader app for iOS, I find the Windows version a little more difficult to use, and so I would like to make the following requests if I may:
1. Please add the option to start verses on a new line (as with iOS version)
2. Please add options for next/previous verse/chapter/page/book – I really don’t like that the scroll bar scrolls the entire Bible (could this possibly fix some memory issues as well?)
3. Could you add some way to get rid of/hide the panel on the left hand side please?
4. Maybe add some labels to some of the options? It’s not always clear what some of the menu icons meanThanks!

The Olive Tree Bible Study app keeps getting better with each upgrade and new additions to it’s library. Additionally, I appreciate the great product/technical support. That always makes good business sense and brings glory to God when done by Christians running a business (1 Cor. 10:31; Col. 3:17, 23-24). I use the app often for bible study and recommend it to other frequently.
I would like to suggest that the app be made to load faster on both the Andriod and iPod Touch/iPhone versions and that the startup screen be darken so as to minimize battery consumption while loading on the same aforemention devices. I also agree with someone else’s comment that the desktop version could be more user friendly but it is good to have.
May the Lord bless you richly (Num. 6:24-26).

I’m really enjoying using the Olive Tree Study App, in particular it’s cloud based cross-platform syncing is spectacular.
I take notes of sermons directly on my iPhone, and these then sync direct to my desk top when I get home.
What would transform it further for me would be the ability to embed audio recordings of sermons as audio notes.
Many thanks. -

I use Olivetree on my iPad 2, and it is great. I agree with Mike, a good English dictionary would be great addition.
Another idea I had is to have directional arrows ( back and forward) at the top of each window, Main, Split and Pop-up. so that you could preset your Bibles on each window. Then you could change very quickly and easily between Bible versions. You can already kind of do this in the split window with the Resource Guide, but it would be great to do it on the Main and Pop-up windows as well.
I use an English translation in the main window, and usually an original language text in the split. It would be cool if you could some how put the Hebrew and Greek texts together (Old Testament and New Testament) so that when I go from the Old to the New Testament in the English in the main window, the split window would then automatically switch from Hebrew to the Greek text.
One more thing that I have found useful is I downloaded a second Olive tree App on my iPad, and put some of my resources on it. A stripped down version with just some Bible translations, lexicons and dictionary’s.
I use this App some times to do word searches or look at passages that come up while I’m studying something on my main App, so I don’t have to lose my place in my main App. This works great on the iPad because you can switch quickly between Apps. If you place all 5 fingers on the screen and swipe to the left, whatever App you had open last will very smoothly slide in to the screen as you swipe. You can switch back and forth very quickly between 2 or more Olive Tree Apps. Though the Apps are not linked. Just some ideas for you Guys. keep up the good work. -

Do you know when the app for Macbook will be updated? I want to use some the features you discussed like background and font colors but these features don’t change when I make adjustments. I was told by support that this issue would be corrected in the next update.
